I am an Artist, based in the East Midlands whose practice focuses on painting. I work in both oils and acrylics to create works that aim to inspire joy and imagination.

My practice is generally intuition based. I find an object I’m interested in and through research, associations and making, I find not only why that object fascinated me in the first place, but what it really means to me as an individual. I dig until I can go no further, pulling layer after layer of meaning out of what is in-front of me. When I am done, a tomato is never just a tomato, a bird is never just a bird. The new creations become part of my soul, I normally find that the reason an item so intrigued me in the first place is because on some level, I saw a piece of me in it from the start.

I always aim for every aspect of what I do to reflect who I am as a person,. I love dirty jokes, bright colours, anything that sparkles. Humour and light are the bases of everything I do. In a world where so much is uncertain, I can always be sure that I am me.

Art is always political, and in the contemporary world this is more true than ever. My own work carries themes of feminism, bodily autonomy and more. But somewhere along the way it feels like many of us have lost the fun in creating our own perceptions of life. Sameness is everywhere, every building is grey, every hoodie has the same logo, every person has the same interests. Life has become dull and repetitive in every aspect.

With my practice, I aim to bring fun back into the modern day, there is nothing more exciting then a little more colour in the world. My work is me. Embarrassment is a state of mind and creating something that makes somebody feel happy is all I need.
